Notable Achievements
Among several achievements in his credit, the most notable one was Dr Chaudhuri’s personally supervised shawl export project. This project converted all classical shawls which had a limited market in Asia region only, had gone to international market with very high acceptance. The outcome of the project was increased in shawl business in India by ten times.
The shawl makers of Ludhiana and Amritsar were benefited financially immensely. This project not only gave the shawl makers tremendous boost in their business but also forced them to modernize their old outdated machinery. This unthinkable jump in business also necessitated to seriously think about quality up gradation and innovation in their products.
Dr Chaudhuri was offered by the Amritsar Golden Temple committee to recognize his contribution to the city.
Awards and Recognitions
National Level Awards
The Indian Woolen Mills Federation. Mumbai, awarded Dr Chaudhuri a certificate of honour in 1999 for his outstanding contribution to the development of wool textile industry of India
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi awarded Dr Sailen Kr Chaudhuri in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to National Development.
State Level Awards
The shawl club and wool club of Punjab from Ludhiana and Amritsar awarded Dr Sailen Kumar Chaudhuri Wool Ratan and Shawl Ratan respectively.
International Level award
The Textile Institute, Manchester UK, has conferred upon Dr Ssailen Kumar Chaudhuri the coveted award Institute Medal in the year 2014 at the Textile Institute at Whuan, China for gis outstanding contribution to the development of global textile industry and the institute.

Women Empowerment
Dr Sailen Kumar Chaudhuri , is very seriously engaged in a unique project of providing opportunities to the poor and destitute women in the villages of India.The modus operandi is to train them in hand knitted wool garment making.The drawback of this project is the women being inadequately trained are likely to produce garments short of the desired
the desired specifications. Fortunately, Dr Chaudhuri, did find a market in Scandinavian countries where these garments are in demand once treated properly which gives a thick, fluffy and warm look. The biggest advantage is that the cost of these garments is competitive because of the cheap labour and raw material.
Graphology vis a vis New India
Dr Sailen Chaudhuri, is not only a recognized wool expert in the country, but also known as a Graphologist and Grapho therapist. His intention is to make use of this wonderful science to create young men and women of personality and confidence in the society and face the challenges of the globalized world.
Dr Chaudhuri sees this project a viable and a happening one, where school children who are in their formative years and will easily imbibe these changes through Grapho theraphy. This in turn will lead desired personality and confidence in the individual. Dr Chaudhuri’s vision is that one day there will be a line up young people with confidence and personality and see eye to eye with the world. This will make a new India which we all aspire for.
